Jonas Andriškevičius

Jonas Andriškevičius (born July 27, 1944 in Debeikiai , Rajongemeinde Anykščiai ) is a Lithuanian major general a. D. and was in command of the Lithuanian Army from 1993 to 1999 .

Life

Jonas Andriškevičius graduated from Jonas Biliūnas Middle School in Anykščiai and did military service in the Soviet Army.

Military career

In 1967 Andriškevičius graduated from the Leningrad Military College . From 1967 to 1973 he served in the group of the Soviet armed forces in Germany . From 1973 to 1976 he attended postgraduate studies at the military academy "MW Frunze" . From 1979 he was stationed in the Siberian Military District and from 1981 to 1984 in Ethiopia . In 1984 he took over the chair of military training at Vilnius University .

Andriškevičius formally joined the Lithuanian armed forces in 1992. In the same year he took over the management of the Lithuanian Military Academy . A year later he was promoted to major general.

From October 20, 1993 to June 1999, he was Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. During this use he attended further training at the NATO Defense College in Rome from 1997 to 1998 . He has been retired since July 1, 1999.
