Jonas Lionginas

Jonas Lionginas (born May 16, 1956 in Vilnius ) is a Lithuanian bank manager and liberal politician .

Life

In 1971 Lionginas completed 8 classes at the 21st Vilnius Middle School and in 1975, with honors, the training as a technician-mathematician at the Vilnius Electromechanical Technology Center . In 1980 he graduated from the Faculty of Business Cybernetics and Finance of the Vilniaus universitetas . From 1983 to 1999 he worked in the Ministry of Finance (Lithuania) as chief inspector, head of a subdivision, department director and then head of the Lithuanian national tax authority (VMI). From 1995 to 1998 he was chairman of the board of directors of Lietuvos vystymo bankas , from 1996 to 1999 chairman of the council of Lietuvos žemės ūkio bankas , from 1999 and 2001 to 2001 finance minister in the Paksas I and Paksas II cabinets , in 2000 he was a member of the Vilnius city council, from 2000 to 2008 member of the Seimas , selected in the Karoliniškės constituency .

In 1996 Lionginas was a member of Tėvynės sąjunga , 1999 Lietuvos liberalų sąjunga , from 2002 Liberalų Demokratieų partija , from 2004 Darbo partija , from 2006 Pilietinės Demokratijos partija .
