Jonas Stöpfgeshoff (born November 6, 1978 in Sweden ) is a former Swedish - German ice hockey player who played for Brynäs IF in the Elitserien and the Frankfurt Lions in the German ice hockey league from 1995 to 2006 .

Career

Jonas Stöpfgeshoff began his career as an ice hockey player in the youth of the Gävle GIK , for which he made his division 1 debut in the 1995/96 season . He then played for two years for Brynäs IF in the Elitserien , before he was on the ice from 1998 to 2001 for Tranås AIF in the second-rate HockeyAllsvenskan . The defender then spent another season in HockeyAllsvenskan, where he was active for Rögle BK . After the left-back started the 2002/03 season at HC Bozen in the Italian Serie A , he left the South Tyroleans after only five games and signed with the Frankfurt Lions from the DEL . With the Lions he was German champion in the 2003/04 season . During the entire following season, the native Swede was unable to play a competitive game for Frankfurt due to a severe concussion . After the left-handed shooter suffered another severe concussion in 2006, he had to retire at the age of 27 in order not to risk any major injuries.
