Jonathan Caouette (born November 26, 1972 in Houston , USA ) is an American independent filmmaker, film actor and author filmmaker . He was best known for the documentary Tarnation .

Life

Caouette had a difficult childhood. He grew up with his grandparents because his mother suffered from schizophrenia . At the age of eleven, Caouette made several films. He also starred in several MTV commercials, commercials and over a dozen student films.

In 2003 he had his greatest success: the film Tarnation (co-produced by John Cameron Mitchell and Gus Van Sant ). Caouette had enjoyed great success at various festivals and won several independent awards in the USA. His film was shown at the Sundance Film Festival and in Cannes . He has also worked as a theater and musical actor at various regional theaters and musicals. Jonathan Caouette is openly gay.
