Jonathan Myerson

Jonathan Myerson (born January 12, 1960 in Cardiff ) is a British writer , radio play and screenwriter , journalist and former local politician .

Life

Myerson studied at the University of Oxford and initially worked as a playwright. His first play was Making a Difference , which was commissioned by the Oxford Playhouse Company. Diary Of A Nobody followed for the National Theater . Myerson has also worked as a radio play writer for the BBC , has written theater reviews and wrote two novels, Noise (1998) and Your Father (2000). He was also a screenwriter for various television series, including the popular series EastEnders . For the animation series The Canterbury Tales based on Geoffrey Chaucer , which he directed and wrote the screenplay for, Myerson was nominated for an Oscar in 1999 for Best Animated Short Film and won a BAFTA for Best Animated Short Film that same year .

Myerson has taught at Bournemouth University , the Arvon Foundation, and the literary consultancy he co-founded, The Writer's Practice . He is a Lecturer in Creative Writing (Novel) at City University London .

Myerson was a councilor for the London Borough of Lambeth from 2002 to 2006 and processed his experience in office in a column that appeared in The Guardian newspaper. He is married to writer Julie Myerson ; the marriage has three children.
