Jongens Island is a small island off the Mawson Coast of the East Antarctic Mac Robertson Land . In the group of the Flat Islands it is 3 km northwest of Mawson Station in the immediate vicinity of Kerry Island .
The Antarctic Names Committee of Australia named them in 2009 after the Hague- born Australian electrical and radio engineer Sjoerd "Sojo" Jongens (1950-2008), who was part of the Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions to the winter teams at Mawson Station in the year 1980 and on Macquarie Island in 1986.
