Jonny Heykens (1932)

Jonny Heykens (born September 24, 1884 in Groningen , † June 28, 1945 in Hilversum ) was a Dutch composer . His “Ständchen” op 21, which was published for many different ensembles, became best known. This melody later became known through Loriot's sketch "Schmeckt's?"

Heykens was a staunch supporter of the Nazis. In the press he praised Adolf Hitler and proclaimed racist views on Jews and blacks. He died shortly after the war in Hilversum prison. Since then he was no longer recognized as an important musician in the Netherlands and his name disappeared there.
