Joop Klant

Johannes Jacobus "Joop" Klant (born March 1, 1915 in Warmenhuizen , † December 26, 1994 in Amsterdam ) was a Dutch writer and economist . His parents were Pieter Klant and Geertje de Moor.

Live and act

He became known as (Prof. Dr.) JJ Klant. After studying economics in Amsterdam, he worked for many years as a statistician in Pretoria (South Africa). From 1966 he was a lecturer and from 1975 a full professor of government budgeting at the University of Amsterdam .

JJ Klant received the Lucy B. en CW van der Hoogtprijs Prize of the Society for Dutch Literature in 1947 for his novel The somewhat strange and definitely adventurous human life of the former Kasper Jan Klaassen .

Shortly after the Second World War , Klant went to South Africa, where he stayed for eight years. He then worked as a consultant for the Dutch trading company, what was then Algemene Bank Nederland - ABN. In 1973 he received his doctorate with the dissertation Spelregels voor Economen (German: rules of the game for economists). He has received several awards for his work, for example in 1993 he was awarded the Akademiepenning (one of the most important science prizes in the Netherlands) by the Royal Dutch Academy of Sciences .
