Joos van Winghe
Jodocus van Winghe or more often Joos van Winghe (* 1542/44 in Brussels , † 1603 in Frankfurt am Main ) was a Flemish history painter .
Life
During a stay in Italy in the 1560s, he got to know works by Anthoni Santvort , Jan Speckaert and Bartholomäus Spranger . In 1568 he was recorded as court painter to the governor of the Netherlands, Alessandro Farnese , in Brussels . In 1584 or 1585 he moved to Frankfurt a. M. and became a citizen of Frankfurt in 1588. Van Winghe was a member of the Dutch Painting Association in Frankfurt. He received orders a. by the German Emperor Rudolf II , one of the most important art patrons of his time.

Only a few paintings by van Winghe have survived. There are also around 20 hand drawings and around 40 engravings.
