The Jordan-Hare Stadium is a Football - Stadium on the campus of Auburn University in Auburn , in the US state of Alabama . It serves as the venue for the home games of the NCAA college team's Auburn Tigers . The sports complex has a spectator capacity of 87,451. The venue was named after Ralph Jordan , the university's most successful football coach, and Cliff Hare , a member of Auburn University's first football team. In 2005 the field was named Pat Dye Field after the former player and coach Pat Dye. Since then, the stadium has been called Pat Dye Field at Jordan-Hare Stadium .

The stadium was built in 1939 with a capacity of 7,290 seats. Other sources give 15,000 places. The original name was called Auburn Stadium and was replaced by Cliff Hare Stadium in 1949 . At that time the capacity was already 21,500. In 1951, Ralph Jordan coached the Tigers and continued to do so in 1973 when the stadium was named after him.

With the extensions of the western upper tier in 1980 and the Eastern Upper rank in 1987, the stadium was the largest in the state of Alabama and remained so until 2006, when the Bryant-Denny Stadium of the University of Alabama has been expanded to 92,138 seats. Before the 2007 season, the US dollar was one for 2.9 million high-definition - video wall installed in the southern end zone.
