Jordi-Agustí Piqué i Collado

Jordi-Agustí Piqué i Collado , OSB , (* 1963 in Lleida ) is a Catalan theologian , composer , organist , music teacher and Benedictine from the Montserrat monastery . Jordi-Agustí Piqué headed the Escolania de Montserrat from 1997 to 2001 .

life and work

Jordi-Agustí Piqué entered the Montserrat Monastery in 1990. In 1995 he was ordained a priest there. In 2006 he obtained a doctorate in dogmatic theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome on the subject of Theology and Music: A Dialectical-Transcendental Contribution to the Sacramentality of the Aesthetic Perception of the Mystery. Piqué is currently combining his compositional and solo performance activities with teaching and public lectures at symposiums and conferences. Among other things, he composed the Quartets Romans Op. 23 (Universitat de Lleida, 2004). He also published numerous articles such as Psallite Sapienter. The monastery as a place of musical harmony and the Livre du Saint Sacrement. Eucharist as a manifestation of experience and transcendence.

Under his direction, the Escolanía gave several concerts in Spain and toured Germany, France and Japan. During this time two CD recordings were made. Jordi-Agustí Piqué has performed as an organist in Catalonia and at concerts in France, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Germany, Hungary, Poland and Korea.

Piqué is Associate Professor and Dean of the Pontificio Istituto Liturgico (Pontifical Liturgical Institute) in Rome. He is also visiting professor at the Centro Teológico Salesiano Martí Codolar in Barcelona and at the Faculty of Theology of Catalonia. He is a professor at the Studium Teologicum de Montserrat . Piqué is on the governing body of the Phase magazine of the Center de Pastoral Litúrgica , which is closely associated with the Instituto Superior de Liturgia de Barcelona .
