Traugott Koch (born January 20, 1937 in Sulzbach ; † October 3, 2015 in Hamburg ) was a German Protestant theologian .

Life

He studied in Heidelberg , Tübingen , Zurich and Wuppertal . He was on 10 December 1964 on the Wolfhart Pannenberg in Mainz for Dr. theol. with a dissertation on Hegel's "Science of Logic" doctorate . After his time as a research assistant at the University of Mainz and his habilitation in Munich in 1970 , he initially took over a professorship for basic questions of Protestant theology in Regensburg and in 1975 switched to the Protestant theological faculty of the University of Hamburg, where he succeeded Helmut Thielicke held the professorship for systematic theology (ethics) until his retirement in 2002.

Two of Traugott Koch's brothers were also university professors: the Protestant theologian Klaus Koch and the physician Gebhard Koch .
