The Runddysse Jordløse Højvang (also called Jorløse) is located at Haastrupvej 28, near Jorløse, southeast of Haarby on the Danish island of Funen . The megalithic complex from the Neolithic Age is Funen's largest round dyssey and was built by the people of the Funnel Beaker Culture (TBK) between 3500 and 2800 BC. Built in BC.

description

The well-preserved dolmen is located in a garden behind a private house in the remains of a 1.1 to 1.2 m high round hill 15 to 16 m in diameter, surrounded by an almost complete curb made of 21 stones, some of them large. Some of them have been relocated or damaged by demolition.

In the middle is the rectangular north-south oriented chamber with two supporting stones on each of the three sides and a threshold stone over the full width of the southern narrow side. A massive capstone covers the half-sunken chamber of the polygonal pole .

The dolmen is very similar to the Dreslette dolmen, 12 kilometers away . A little more than two kilometers away are the disturbed Damsbo Smuttehaver Runddysser 1 + 2.

Individual evidence

  1. Runddysse is the common denomination in Denmark for dolmens that are located in a round hill. In contrast, dolmens lying in a rectangular mound bed are called long dolmens.
