Ray Lazdins

Ray Lazdins (actually Raymond Lazdins ; born September 25, 1964 in Hamilton ) is a former Canadian discus thrower .

In 1986 he won the Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh . The following year he finished sixth at the Pan American Games in Indianapolis . At the World Athletics Championships in Rome in 1987 and at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul, he was eliminated from the qualification.

In 1989 he won silver at the Francophonie Games in Rabat, and in 1990 he was sixth at the Commonwealth Games in Auckland . At the 1991 World Cup in Tokyo, the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona and the 1993 World Cup in Stuttgart, he did not get past the first round. In 1994 he finished seventh at the Commonwealth Games in Victoria .

From 1986 to 1994 he was Canadian champion nine times in a row. He set his best length of 65.72 m on May 22, 1991 in Salinas .
