Jorge Bornhausen

Jorge Konder Bornhausen (born October 1, 1937 in Rio de Janeiro ) is a Brazilian politician and lawyer.

Life

Jorge Bornhausen is a member of the Democratas and was president of their predecessor party, Partido da Frente Liberal . Under his leadership, the party tried to initiate impeachment proceedings against Lula da Silva in summer 2005 . They found it unlikely that he was unaware of the corruption around him.

From 1979 to 1982 Jorge Bornhausen was governor of Santa Catarinas . From 1983 to 1991 and 1999 to 2007 he was a member of the Brazilian Senate for Santa Catarina. In the meantime he acted as his country's ambassador to Portugal from 1997 to 1999 .

Bornhausen is the son of the politician Irineu Bornhausen , who was governor of Santa Catarina from 1951 to 1956.
