Jorge Gómez Gutiérrez (born August 8, 1946 in Mexico City ), also known by the nickname Coco , is a Mexican football coach and former player in the position of winger , who also worked as a sports director for a few years at the beginning of the 21st century .

Life

Jorge "Coco" Gómez began his active career in the youth department of his home club Club America , where he also received his first professional contract and for which he made his debut in the Mexican Primera in the 1964/65 season against city ​​rivals Atlante (0: 1) División celebrated. At the end of the same season he won the Mexican Cup competition with the Americanistas and the Mexican championship in the following season (1965/66).

After the Torneo México 70 , a special tournament for the Mexican football championship held on the occasion of the 1970 World Cup , Gómez moved to Puebla FC , where he was under contract until 1975.

Positions as trainer and sports director

"Coco" Gómez celebrated his greatest successes as a coach in the seasons 1985/86 and 1992/93, when he won the second division championship with the teams he coached (first Cobras Querétaro and then Toros Neza ) and made it to the upper house. After promotion, he initially looked after both teams in the Primera División (the Cobras only for about three months, the Toros for more than a year), but these were also his only coaching activities in the top Mexican division.

During a long break in his coaching activity, he worked as a sports director at the first division clubs Real San Luis (2003) and Dorados de Sinaloa (2005).

Most recently, Coco Gómez coached Club Tecamachalco, which is now in the third-class Segunda División.
