Jorge Oteiza Enbil (born October 21, 1908 in Orio , Province of Gipuzkoa , Spain ; † April 9, 2003 in Donostia , Gipuzkoa) was a Basque sculptor , painter and author .
Life
Oteiza was born in 1908 in the province of Gipuzkoa in the Basque Country . He is considered one of the most respected Basque artists of the 20th century and was a pioneer of abstract art in Spain. In 1988 Oteiza received the Prince of Asturias Prize in the art category.
