Jorge Pacheco Areco (born November 8, 1920 in Montevideo ; † July 29, 1998 ibid) was a Uruguayan politician and president from December 6, 1967 to March 1, 1972. He was the successor of President Óscar Diego Gestido , who after a few months had died in office.

In the 1971 elections, Pacheco Areco stood for re-election . However, since the constitution did not allow the president to be re-elected, a referendum to amend the constitution was held at the same time as the elections , but this failed. Then Juan María Bordaberry was elected President.
