José Aja , full name José Manuel Aja Livchich , (born May 10, 1993 in Montevideo ) is a Uruguayan football player .

Career

The 1.93 meter tall defensive player Aja moved up from the youth team to the first division squad of Nacional Montevideo at Apertura 2014 . He made his debut in the Primera División under coach Álvaro Gutiérrez on August 30, 2014 in a 2-1 home defeat by El Tanque Sisley , when he came on for Rafael García in the 30th minute of the game . In the 2014/15 season, which his team finished as Uruguayan champions, he was used six times (no goal) in the top Uruguayan league and twice (no goal) in the 2015 Copa Libertadores . In the Apertura 2015, four more first division appearances followed (no goal). He also played three times in the 2015 Copa Sudamericana and scored one goal.

In early February 2016 he moved within the league on loan to Racing Club de Montevideo . In the 2016 Clausura he made two appearances in the first division (no goal).

In July 2016, Nacionals had another loan deal with Orlando City . He then moved permanently to Orlando. There he played the 2017 season before moving to the Vancouver Whitecaps in early 2018 .
