José Alves Dos Santos (called Zague or José Alves ; born August 10, 1934 in Bahia ) is a former Brazilian football player on the position of striker . He is the father of the widely used Mexican international Luis Roberto Alves , who also spent a large part of his career with America .

biography

As far as can be understood, Alves began his professional career at Santos FC and the previously quite successful Botafogo SC . Between 1956 and 1961 he played for SC Corinthians and came for this club in 241 missions on 127 hits.

In 1961 Alves moved to the Mexican Club America , for which he scored 102 goals over the years. His most successful season as a scorer in the service of the capital city was in 1965/66, when he was top scorer in the Mexican Primera División with 20 goals and played a key role in Club America winning its first championship title in the professional league introduced in 1943/44 .

In addition, Alves won the Copa México with America in 1964 and 1965 .
