José Ardévol

José Ardévol (born March 13, 1911 in Barcelona , † January 7, 1981 in Havana ) was a Cuban composer of Spanish origin.

Ardévol came to Havana in 1930, where he received his musical training. He was a co-founder of the symphony orchestra, the conservatory , where he taught composition until 1968, and the chamber orchestra , which he directed from 1934 to 1952.

He composed a ballet , three symphonies and other symphonic works, three concerti grossi , a concerto for three pianos and orchestra, a concerto for piano and woodwinds, chamber concerts and other chamber music works, choral works and film scores.
