José Dolores Alfonseca
José Dolores Alfonseca (born May 24, 1878 in Santo Domingo , † February 15, 1933 in San Juan ) was a Dominican politician and until 1930 Vice President of the Dominican Republic.
The trained medical doctor was a professor at the medical faculty of the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo and was awarded a Legion of Honor for his work in French hospitals during the First World War . He was politically active as a member of parliament and senator and then became State Secretary for Finance and Economics and finally Vice President from 1927 to 1930 during the presidency of Horacio Vásquez . After the Trujillo coup in 1930 he went into exile in Puerto Rico, where he died in 1933.
