José Francisco Porras Hidalgo (born November 8, 1970 in Grecia ) is a former Costa Rican soccer goalkeeper .

1989/90 he made his debut in the first division of Costa Rica. After his move to the Costa Rican top team Deportivo Saprissa , he had to lag behind goalkeeping icon Erick Lonnis for a long time , but after his career ended, he moved up to the regular goalkeeper. With Saprissa he was national champion four times and won the CONCACAF Champions Cup in 2005 .

As early as 1989 he played in his country's selection at the Junior World Championships. But also in the senior national team of Costa Rica José Porras was mostly in the shadow of Erick Lonnis. It was only at the age of 35 that he was able to prevail against Alvaro Mesén during the qualifying games for the 2006 World Cup in the fight for the place between the posts . At the World Cup, he wore the number 18 in Costa Rica's squad and was the oldest player on the team.
