José Happart
José Happart (born March 14, 1947 in Herstal - Chertal ) is a Belgian fruit grower and politician and was President of the Walloon Parliament from 2004 to 2009 . He is a member of the Parti Socialiste .
José Happart and his twin brother Jean-Marie Happart , also politicians, were born in Herstal-Chertal, where their father runs a farm.
In January 1984, Happart was briefly mayor of the politically controversial municipality of Voeren (French: Fourons), which is in the Dutch-speaking region of Flanders , but Happart does not speak Dutch . He was also a member and president of the Walloon Parliament and from 1999 to 2004 Walloon Minister of Agriculture.
