José Ismael Sarmiento

José Ismael Sarmiento Riaño (born July 15, 1973 ) is a Colombian road cyclist .

José Ismael Sarmiento began his professional career in 1997 with the Colombian cycling team Lotería de Boyaca . In his second year there he was able to win the overall ranking of the Vuelta a Guatemala and the Vuelta de Higuito. In the 2001 season he won the Vuelta a Cundinamarca. In 2002 Sarmiento won the silver medal in road racing at the Pan American Championship. At the Clásica Nacional Ciudad de Anapoima, he won a stage each in 2002 and 2003 and was thus able to win the overall standings. In 2003 he was also first in the overall ranking at the Clásica de Fusagasugá. In 2004 Sarmiento won a stage in the Vuelta a Colombia and in 2005 the overall ranking of the Vuelta a Boyacà. At the Clásico RCN he won two stages in 2006 and a part in 2007. In the Tour de la Guadeloupe was he in 2009 with his team USL Only the team time trial success.
