José Luis Cantilo

José Luis Cantilo (born February 6, 1871 in Buenos Aires , † October 11, 1944 ibid) was an Argentine politician and member of the Unión Cívica Radical .

Life

Cantilo began his studies at the Colegio Nacional de Buenos Aires and finished it in Paris . He was already a member of several earlier parties, from which the Unión Cívica Radical arose in 1891, which Cantilo co-founded. He also took part in the civil wars in Argentina of 1893 and 1905. In 1895 he was elected delegate of the Province of Buenos Aires.

Cantilo was governor of the province of Buenos Aires from April 25, 1917 to May 1, 1918 . From December 5, 1919 to October 25, 1921 he was mayor of the city of Buenos Aires . From May 1, 1922 to May 1, 1926 Cantilo was again provincial governor. He then became involved as a member of the Argentine National Congress between 1936 and 1940 .

Cantilo was also involved in universities outside of politics, for example the Academia Nacional de la Historia or the Histórico y Geográfico del Uruguay .
