José Luis Espert

José Luis Espert (born November 21, 1961 in Pergamino , Buenos Aires Province ) is an Argentine economist and politician.

Education and career

Espert studied economics at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA). He holds a Masters in Economics from CEMA University (UCEMA) and a Masters in Statistics from the National University of Tucumán . He started at Miguel Ángel Broda , where he worked as a monetary policy analyst and later became chief economist at the same institution. He also worked as an econometrist at Estudio Arriazu and was a partner at Econométrica SA . In 2000 he founded his own company, Estudio Espert , which offers macroeconomic advice and asset management.

He is a member of the Argentine Association for Political Economy ( Asociación Argentina de Economía Política ). He was Professor of Econometrics at UBA and Professor of Public Finance at UCEMA.

He is a columnist for various newspapers such as La Nación and El País from Uruguay. He is also a book author ( La Argentina Devorada 2017 ) and one of the most famous economists in the country.

politics

In December 2018, he officially launched his presidential campaign for the 2019 Argentine presidential election . Espert competed for the Partido Libertario. In the primaries he reached 2.18% of the vote and was thus admitted to the presidential election. With 1.47% of the votes, he reached sixth place.
