José Luis Rodríguez González
José Luis Rodríguez González ( El Puma ; born January 14, 1943 in Caracas ) is a Venezuelan singer and actor .
Life
Rodríguez began his musical career as a singer in the group Los Zeppys , with whom he made music in the style of The Platters . In 1962 he succeeded Felipe Pirela as singer in Billo Frómetas Billo’s Caracas Boys . He worked with the orchestra for four years and then made his debut as an actor on the television series El Roble . Others followed such as Carolina , Sangre azul and Una muchacha llamada Milagros ; his role name in the latter was El Puma and became his stage name .
His first international record success was in 1977 the song Voy a perder la cabeza por tu amor by Manuel Alejandro , which later served as the theme song for the television series Cristina Bazán . In 1978 he went to Miami, and the following year he went on a concert tour of the USA. His album Voy a perder la cabeza por tu amor was released on RCA, and more followed on the CBS label.
Several attempts to start a political career - among other things he announced that he would run for the Venezuelan presidency - failed, but Rodríguez continued to be successful as a musician, including the album Piel de hombre (1992), on which he performed a duet with Julio Iglesias sang.
In 2012 he was a juror and coach on the Argentine edition of the vocal talent show The Voice . In 2013, he took on the same role on the Peruvian version of the show.
Since 2004, Rodríguez has had both Venezuelan and American citizenship. His first marriage was to the singer Lila Morillo . His daughters Génesis Rodríguez , Lilibeth Morillo and Liliana Morillo were also known as singers and actresses.
