José Manuel García de la Torre

José Manuel García de la Torre (born December 28, 1925 , † November 21, 2010 ) was a Spanish Romanist and Hispanist who worked in the Netherlands.

life and work

García first studied law at the University of Santiago de Compostela (graduated in 1953), then Hispanic Studies. He received his doctorate in Madrid in 1962 with the thesis Estudios sobre el gallego de Orense and was lecturer (lecturer) for Spanish at the University of Amsterdam from 1963 to 1979, and from 1980 to 1990 full professor of Spanish linguistics.
