José María Casullo
José María Casullo (* in Villa Crespo , Buenos Aires ) is a former Argentine football coach and player who played in the position of striker during his playing career . He celebrated his greatest successes as a coach with Club León , with which he won the Mexican championship twice in a row.
biography
During his only five-year playing career from 1931 to 1936, Casullo was exclusively under contract with his hometown club Club Atlético Atlanta . He made his debut on June 4, 1931 in a first division game against Atlanta's arch-rivals Chacarita Juniors . In the eleventh minute, he scored a goal that was also Club Atlético Atlanta's first goal in paid football .
In 1939, three years after his retirement as a player, Casullo was entrusted by those responsible at Club Atlético Atlanta as head coach, which he held until 1946. In the same year he moved to Mexico to look after Club León, with which he was runner-up in 1946/47 and won the championship title in the two following seasons.
In 1951 he signed with Club Deportivo Guadalajara , where he worked for more than four years. During this period he was twice runner-up (1952 and 1955) and twice reached the cup final (1954 and 1955), but in both cases it was lost to Chivas' arch-rivals America . After his early release during the 1955/56 season, he initially stayed in Mexico and trained in the season 1956/57 the likewise in Guadalajara based CF Atlas and in the season 1957/58 the straight in the Primera División ascended CA Morelia . In 1965 Casullo ended his coaching career in the service of CA Rosario Central .
