José María Restrepo Sáenz

José María Restrepo Sáenz (* 1880 ; † 1949 ) was a Colombian historian .

Restrepo Sáenz came from a family of historians. He spent his life researching the archives of Seville , Bogotá and the department of Antioquía . The Colombian "Genealogical Research Group José María Restrepo Sáenz" ( Grupo de investigaciones genealógicas José María Restrepo Sáenz ) is named after him and has been publishing the series Genealogías de Santafé de Bogotá for several years .

His granddaughter, Cecilia Restrepo Manrique, is a member of the Colombian Historical Academy .
