José Oriol
Josep Oriol (born November 23, 1650 in Barcelona , Spain ; † March 22, 1702 ibid), German also Joseph Oriol , is a saint of the Roman Catholic Church .
Life
Oriol completed his philosophical and theological studies in 1674 with a doctorate to the doctor of theology, and received two years later, the sacrament of Holy Orders . He made a pilgrimage to Rome in 1687 and after his return to his Spanish homeland was appointed pastor of the church of Santa Maria del Pino in Barcelona. Oriol was a gifted pastor whose special care was given to the poor and sick. He lived a strictly ascetic life and put on heavy penance exercises. Even during his lifetime he was considered a miracle worker . Pope Pius X canonized him on May 20, 1909.
