José Richling

José Richling (born July 8, 1874 in Montevideo , † February 22, 1950 in Flushing ) was a Uruguayan diplomat .

Life

José Richling was married to Jean, their son was Robert Richling, Uruguayan Consul General in New York in 1950 .

José Richling attended schools in Montevideo and Europe. From 1906 to 1910 he was Consul General in Pretoria . From 1910 to 1913 he was Consul General in New York. From 1913 to 1920 he was inspector of the Uruguayan consulates in North and Central America and the Caribbean. In 1920 he became consul general in New York, where he became doyen of the consular corps in 1928 . On March 29, 1934 he was appointed Envoy Extraordinary and Ministre plénipotentiaire in Washington, DC , where he was accredited from April 25, 1934 to September 3, 1941. From 1940 he was chairman of the South American Trading Cooperation. In 1941 he was involved in the negotiations for a contract under the Loan and Lease Act .
