José Silva (parapsychologist)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

José Silva (born August 11, 1914 in Laredo , † February 7, 1999 ) was an American parapsychologist . He is the inventor of the “Ultramind ESP program” and the “Silva method” . Both techniques intend to IQ boost to develop psychic abilities and and heal others.

Life

José Silva was born the second of three children on the Texas-Mexico border. For family reasons, he did not attend schools. At the age of 15 he completed a distance learning course as an electrical engineer. Soon after, he opened a radio repair service and started a family. During his military service in World War II, he continued his education in the field of electrical engineering and became an instructor. During this time he became interested in the human psyche and the study of brain frequencies. After completing his service in the military, he ran a radio and television business and in his spare time he deepened his knowledge of hypnosis and psychology. Finally, he developed his own ideas, which he pursued intensively along with the associated research.

Theory and research

Silva's idea grew out of his knowledge of electrical frequencies and his knowledge of psychology . He researched the effect of electrical discharges in the human brain and put this in direct connection with thinking. The principle of Silva's exercises is based on lowering the electrical brain frequencies when awake to 7–13 Hz ( alpha waves ).

He put forward a theory that at low frequencies the brain can absorb and store more information and react more energetically. From this he finally developed a training for relaxed concentration, active visualization, deeper relaxation levels and supernatural projection (ESP). Silva first trained his children, whose school grades improved extraordinarily in the following years. When this became known in Laredo, 39 more children followed. Only then did his work with adults begin. Silva invested time and large sums in researching his idea and had his theories and results examined by recognized scientists. The investigations took place in the 1960s and are not clearly documented. Positive test results are offset by critical voices.

José Silvas Programs

In 1966 Silva published his first program under the name "Silva Mind Control" . Since this name went through the world press because of dubious attempts, he finally changed the name to the Silva method. The training originally lasted 48 hours, but has since been shortened to 18 to 20 hours. Two years before his death in 1997 he published the sum total of his experiences in the “Ultramind ESP System” .
