José Carlos Valdez Calva (born September 2, 1986 in Pachuca de Soto ) is a retired Mexican cyclist .

Athletic career

In 2005, José Valdez won a stage each at the Vuelta a San Luis Potosi and at the Vuelta Mazatlan. The next year he rode for the Chivas Cycling Team , where he won a stage at the Vuelta Sonora, a section at the Vuelta Mazatlan and a stage at the Vuelta a la Laguna. In 2007 Valdez moved to Tecos de la Guadalajara . Here he was successful on three sections of the Vuelta al Estado de Oaxaca. From 2008 he drove for the Mexican Continental Team Canel’s Turbo Mayordomo . In his first year there he won the eighth stage of the Vuelta Mexico . In 2009 he ended his cycling career as an elite rider with a contract, but continued to contest a few races until 2015.
