Joscelin of Courtenay

Joscelin of Courtenay ( lat. Joscelinum de Cortinaco ; * before 1034; † after 1065) was a French nobleman. He was Herr von Courtenay from the noble family of the same name .

He was the son and heir of Hatto of Courtenay , castellan of Châteaurenard and builder of Courtenay castle.

In his first marriage he married Hildegard von Château-Landon around 1060, daughter of Count Gottfried II von Gâtinais and the Ermengarde von Anjou . With her he had at least one child:

In his second marriage he married Elisabeth de Montlhéry in 1065, daughter of Guido I of Montlhéry . He had at least four children with her:

  • Hodierne, ⚭ Gottfried II of Joinville ;
  • Milo († after 1145), lord of Courtenay;
  • Joscelin I († 1131), crusader, 1113 Prince of Galilee, 1118 Count of Edessa;
  • Gottfried (⚔ 1137), crusader.
