Château-Renard is a French commune with 2,187 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Loiret in the region Center-Val de Loire . It belongs to the arrondissement of Montargis and belongs to the canton of Courtenay , it was the capital of the canton of Château-Renard until its dissolution in 2015 . It is located on the banks of the Ouanne River .
The current spelling Château-Renard has existed since November 19, 1998 (in application of a decree of November 16, 1998). The municipality of Châteaurenard previously wrote to itself . The change was made to avoid confusion with Châteaurenard in the Bouches-du-Rhône department .
