Vimory is a French commune in the department of Loiret in the region Center-Val de Loire . It belongs to the arrondissement of Montargis and the canton of Montargis (until 2015: canton Amilly ). Vimory has an area of 2,622 hectares and has 1,173 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017), who are called Vimoriens .
geography
Vimory is about 58 kilometers east-northeast of Orléans on the River Solin . The Puiseaux River limits the municipality to the east. Vimory is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Villemandeur in the north, Mormant-sur-Vernisson in the east, Saint-Hilaire-sur-Puiseaux in the south-east, Oussoy-en-Gâtinais in the south and south-west, Lombreuil in the west and south-west and Chevillon-sous-Huillard in the West and northwest.
The A77 autoroute runs through the municipality and the Montargis-Vimory airfield is located within the municipality .
history
On October 26, 1587, a mercenary army of Huguenots, Germans and Swiss met a Catholic army led by Duke Heinrich von Guise . The fight ended in Heinrich's favor.
