The canton of Montargis is a French canton in the arrondissement of Montargis , in Loiret and the region Center-Val de Loire ; its main town is Montargis .

Until the nationwide reorganization of the cantons in 2015, the canton of Meung-sur-Loire consisted only of the municipality of Montargis . Its layout corresponded to an area of 4.46 km 2 . Before 2015 it had a different INSEE code than it does today, namely 4519.
Until the administrative reform in the 1970s, the canton of Montargis was much larger. The canton Amilly and the canton Châlette-sur-Loing were spun off from him at the time . The old canton of Montargis consisted of the 15 municipalities of Amilly , Cepoy , Châlette-sur-Loing , Chevillon-sur-Huillard , Conflans-sur-Loing , Corquilleroy , Lombreuil , Montargis , Mormant-sur-Vernisson , Pannes , Paucourt , Saint-Maurice -sur-Fessard , Villemandeur , Villevoques , Vimory .
