history

The name trup means -dorf and a total of seven places in the Blomberg Basin have this ending in their name. The places with the ending trup are among the oldest settlements in Lippe and emerged between the 6th and 8th centuries AD as part of the old Saxon settlement.

According to recent findings, the settlement is said to have been mentioned for the first time as early as 1036. Bishop Meinhard von Paderborn inaugurated the Busdorf Church in Paderborn on May 25 this year and endowed the associated monastery with a tithe from the proceeds of the episcopal main courtyards and their six outbuildings . This also included the Hardinchtorp Vorwerk , which is called Herrentorp around 1355 and is now Herrentrup .

In the state treasury register of 1467, a total of 12 landowners are listed for Herrentrup and according to the Salbuch there were already 4 full spouses , 6 half spouses , 3 big cats and 10 small cats there in 1644, i.e. at the time of the Thirty Years War . Today there are four buildings erected before 1644 in the old town center of Herrentrup.

Count Kasimir von Lippe-Brake had an inn built in 1690 in the immediate vicinity of today's restaurant Zum Sauren Krug . The building was on what was then the Cöllnische Landstrasse , a busy highway at that time. In 1833 the old house was torn down and replaced by a new building. At that time there were already 277 people living in the village. In a major fire in 1883, the Harting and Meyer farms and the Berghahn-Möller family's house were destroyed.

From 1926 to 1936 Herrentrup was connected to the PESAG tram line from Bad Meinberg to Blomberg.

On January 1, 1970 Herrentrup was incorporated into the city of Blomberg.
