Location of Altendonop in Blomberg
|
Altendonop is one of the 19 localities in the city of Blomberg in the Lippe district in North Rhine-Westphalia . The village is about eleven kilometers northwest of the city center and can only be reached via the neighboring town of Donop, which is about one kilometer away . In Altendonop there are 259 inhabitants on an area of 4.28 km². The current head of the village is Paolo Cameli.
The village, located in a depression, has always been characterized by agriculture since its inception, but today only has two full-time farms. The residents go to church in Donop and the toddlers go to the local kindergarten, while the students are taken by bus to the elementary school in Großenmarpe .
Around 1880, the former municipality of Donop was dissolved and divided into the new communities of Altendonop, Dalborn and Kirchdonop. The manor Altendonop also became independent and thus treated as a parish. Around 1890 the parish of Kirchdonop was renamed Donop . The Altendonop manor was integrated into the Altendonop community around 1920.
A water interest group has existed since 1936, which supplies Altendonop with fresh water and is financed and operated exclusively by the villagers. Many of the old half-timbered buildings with spectacular gables and gates have been restored in recent years. In 1999 Altendonop won the competition Our village should become more beautiful - Our village has the future first prize among 76 participating locations in the district competition.
On January 1, 1970 Altendonop was incorporated into the city of Blomberg.
