Istrup since 1970 is one of the 19 towns of the city Blomberg in Lippe district in North Rhine-Westphalia . The village is about four kilometers west of the city center. Around 1572 inhabitants live in Istrup on a municipality area of ​​10.54 km² (as of 2008), which corresponds to a population density of 149 inhabitants / km². This makes Istrup the second largest town in Blomberg after the city center. The mayor of Istrups is currently Jürgen Berghahn ( SPD ) (as of July 16, 2020).

history

Around 1900 a mammoth tooth was found digging a well in Istrup , the age of which is estimated to be 80 to 100 thousand years. Human settlement in the area apparently began around 4000 BC. BC, as shown by finds of stone axes from the Neolithic Age . These finds are exhibited in the Lippisches Landesmuseum in Detmold . Another early sign of human settlement is a stick embankment that was discovered during sewer work and is 2.45 m below today's street level.

Isinctorp was first mentioned in a document around 1361 . In 1467 there were eight farms on the Hainbach and since 1676 the village has been called Istrup . In 1968 the place had almost 1,300 inhabitants.

On January 1, 1970, Istrup was incorporated into the city of Blomberg.

Infrastructure

In Istrup there is a kindergarten as well as a multi-purpose hall and an artificial turf sports field. In addition, there are two parishes, a cemetery and two senior meeting places. There are two full-time agricultural businesses and shops, a carpentry shop, a painting business, an architectural office, a gas station, a bakery and a village grill.

traffic

The B 252 , also called Ostwestfalenstrasse , runs through Istrup . For 30 years there have been plans to build a bypass for Istrup that has not yet been implemented. This problem is discussed at the round table , a group founded in 1999.
