The district is named after the former manor Borkhausen, which is now managed by the Tielker family. Aviation enthusiasts are familiar with the Blomberg-Borkhausen airfield , which is operated by the Luftsportgemeinschaft Lippe-Südost eV .
history
The manor belonged to the noble family von Donop from Lippe , who withdrew from the lordly castles and towns in the 16th century and settled in the country. The Hornhardt family bought the estate in 1729 and managed it for around 160 years. The Hornhardts family cemetery is still preserved today. In 1889 Theodor August Otto Hornhardt sold the property. After a short time in other hands, the estate was acquired in 1907 by Wilhelm Tielker, the great-grandfather of the current owners. On January 1, 1920, the Gutsgemeinde was dissolved and his son, Theodor Tielker, was the first mayor of the new political municipality and held the office into old age. Today dressage horses are trained in the riding hall of the former estate.
In the early 1960s, the aviation community leased 11.2 hectares of land from the Tielker family for the operation of today's airfield. The association has existed since 1931 and was founded under the name Segelflieger Blombergs . Since 1968 the airfield has been approved for gliders and as a special landing pad for powered aircraft up to 1800 kilograms. The length of the grass-covered landing and runway is around 600 m.
On January 1, 1970, Borkhausen was incorporated into the city of Blomberg.
