Every year the "Lockfest" takes place, which always attracts many visitors in summer, who then enjoy the sounds of well-known music titles. Recurring events are also May singing by the men's choir, sports festival, Boßel tournament and a Christmas market. In addition, there is the village championship in Kniffel and Dart, which is organized by the brick and craft association Cappel-Mossenberg-Wöhren.

Since the early 1980s, Cappel has become an attractive place for golfers. The Lippe Golf Club operates an 18-hole course on the edge of the village. In addition, there is the forest stadium not only for football players and several tennis courts.

history

Probably around 800 AD a chapel was built here near a well, probably the first Christian church and community in Lippe . A document from the year 1366 provides information that Cappel one of the official residences (administrations) of Lippe sovereign Bernhard V. was. Until 1590, the representatives of the Lippe towns and aristocratic estates , the so-called estates , met in Cappel to consult with the sovereign. In 1538, the new Lutheran church constitution , based on the Hessian model, was passed here and introduced throughout Lippe .
In 1605 the second Reformation took place in the County of Lippe: sovereign Count Simon VI. ordered the introduction of the Evangelical Reformed Confession according to John Calvin in all cities and communities, including Cappel .

During the Thirty Years' War , on September 8, 1636, the church was looted and burned down by Swedish troops passing through. Only the massive substructure of the church tower remained. A new church was built on the old floor plan. However, it was so poorly constructed that the nave collapsed on July 22, 1827 shortly after the service was over. A new church in the classical style was immediately rebuilt and consecrated two years later.

The Jews living in Großenmarpe, Kleinenmarpe, Cappel, Mossenberg and Eschenbruch built a synagogue in Cappel in 1844/45 . Due to the dwindling number of visitors from the Jewish community, the synagogue was finally sold and demolished in 1896. The former Jewish cemetery in Cappel on the Meierberg is now a listed building.

On January 1, 1970, Cappel was incorporated into the city of Blomberg.
