Uwe Kirchner (born December 31, 1965 ) was a football player from 1985 to 1991 in the GDR or NOFV Oberliga , the highest East German football division.

Soccer career

1. FC Magdeburg

Uwe Kirchner came to 1. FC Magdeburg in 1979 as a 13-year-old from the BSG Mansfeld Combine Sangerhausen and went through the compulsory youth teams there until 1984. From 1982 to 1984 he was part of the FCM junior league team and also completed his training as a mechanical engineer during this time. For the 1985/86 season he was nominated for the league squad of the 1st team as a defender and was used for the first time in the GDR league on the 2nd game day, August 24, 1985. He came in the 32nd minute as a substitute for defender Rolf Döbbelin in the game 1. FCM - Dynamo Dresden (2: 3). In his first league season, Kirchner advanced to become a regular player with 24 appearances and three goals. After he had completed 19 league point games in 1986/87, Kirchner was only used sporadically in the season 1987/88 and only made 13 point game inserts. In the past few years Kirchner had also started international selection apprenticeships. Kirchner played 13 international matches with the U-21 youth national team of the GDR. Although he had been registered for the FCM's 1988/89 league squad and on July 16, 1988 still played the Intercup game at Odense BK for Magdeburg, Kirchner moved to Dynamo Dresden in August 1988 . By then, he had played 56 league points as well as five national and two European cup games for 1. FC Magdeburg.

Dresden, Rostock, Eisenhüttenstadt

On the 3rd match day, August 27, 1988, Kirchner was used for the first time in the Dresden league team. By the end of the season he played a total of 19 times for Dynamo and achieved his only major success with his new team, the GDR championship. In the 1989/90 season he came to no league use because of a knee injury. After unsuccessful trial training at the Bundesliga clubs Fortuna Düsseldorf and Hannover 96 and Kirchner appeared at the beginning of the 1990/91 season as a new addition to FC Hansa Rostock in order to fight for qualification for the DFB's 1st Bundesliga in the new NOFV Oberliga . Although he was used in the first game against Stahl Eisenhüttenstadt (1: 1), he only played 46 minutes for the Hanseatic League on matchday 4. In October 1990 Kirchner left the Baltic coast to join Stahl Eisenhüttenstadt. There he was used on the 9th and 10th day of the season for 14 and 22 minutes respectively. At the end of the season Rostock was NOFV champion without Kirchner, the last GDR Cup winner and Bundesliga promoter, while Eisenhüttenstadt with Kirchner did not qualify for the 1st or 2nd Bundesliga . Kirchner did not appear in higher-class football in the following years.
