Village street in Dalborn

Dalborn is one of the 19 localities in the city of Blomberg in the Lippe district in North Rhine-Westphalia . The previously independent municipality was incorporated into the municipal reform on January 1, 1970. The village is about ten kilometers northwest of the city center.

Dalborn was founded in the 12th century as a Waldhufendorf , a form of settlement that was widespread in Germany in the Middle Ages. This is a row village in which the land ownership usually adjoins the courtyard in two rows. In 1256 Dalborn was first mentioned in writing as Dalberne . The place is at an altitude of 120 to 150  m above sea level. NN and today has 80 inhabitants on an area of 284.34 ha . The villagers go to church in neighboring Cappel , while the children visit the elementary school in Großenmarpe . In Dalborn there are a number of interesting half-timbered houses with ornate arches and inscriptions, as well as the Dalborn mill, which is out of order. The current mayor is Wilhelm Sigges (as of December 19, 2012).

Around 1880, the former municipality of Donop was dissolved and divided into the new communities of Altendonop , Dalborn and Kirchdonop. The manor Altendonop also became independent and thus treated as a parish. Around 1890 the parish of Kirchdonop was renamed Donop .
