Location of Brüntrup in Blomberg
Village center in Brüntrup

Since 1970, Brüntrup has been one of the 19 localities in the city of Blomberg in the Lippe district in North Rhine-Westphalia . The village is around 8 km west of the city center.

geography

Brüntrup lies on the western edge of the Blomberg basin. This basin is an open and hilly area that has been cleared by river erosion. Wheat and sugar beet in particular can be grown productively on the fertile soil . Most of the lands around Brüntrup, which are occasionally covered by small forest islands, are used for agriculture .

history

Like many villages west of Blomberg , Brüntrup also has the ending "-trup" in its name. This ending means nothing more than "village". In 1363, Brüntrup was first mentioned in a document under the name Bruninctorpe . Here the origin of the name is still clearly recognizable, it means Bruninger village . The ending "trup" in the name indicates the beginnings of Brüntrup in the 6th or 7th century AD. The area was probably settled by Saxons who immigrated from the north. Since Lippe place names were not recorded until a good two hundred years later and Brüntrup itself was not mentioned at this time, it was first mentioned relatively late in 1363. At this point, Brüntrup was probably five, if not seven or eight centuries old.

Although the Brüntruper were able to achieve high harvest yields due to the good agricultural location, the trade also played an, albeit not a major, role. In the middle of the 17th century there was a small trader and even a jug who, however, was not allowed to make his own alcohol, but had to get it from horn .

On January 1, 1970, Brüntrup was incorporated into the city of Blomberg.

traffic

District road 78, which connects Blomberg to the east of Detmold , runs right through Brüntrup . In the past few years, the people of Brüntrup have also had to cope with more and more traffic, because since the road from Barntrup to Großenmarpe was expanded, 50 percent of the people of Barntrup have been driving through Brüntrup on their way to Detmold.

In local road transport, Brüntrup is connected to the region via a regional bus network operated by Busverkehr Ostwestfalen GmbH . At the Brüntrup bus stop, line 777 (Blomberg – Detmold) runs regularly every 60 or 120 minutes.

Economy and Infrastructure

Brüntrup is a village that is characterized by agriculture. There are two larger farms located there. There is also a village community center, a cemetery, two playgrounds, a kindergarten and a sports field in Brüntrup.

A small, abandoned fairytale forest or miniature park lies on the road between Brüntrup and Valhausen. You can still see the relatively well-preserved buildings such as churches, castles, beautiful houses or temples. However, some of the structures have already fallen into disrepair or have been deliberately demolished.
