The transport companies Extertal GmbH (vbe) is a transport service provider based in East Westphalia-Lippe . The company is divided into the corporate branches vbe , Karl Köhne Omnibusbetriebe GmbH and vbe Spedition GmbH . The former maintains the rail networks of the Extertalbahn and the Begatalbahn . history
The company was founded on September 8, 1924 by several shareholders (municipalities and electricity works Wesertal ) under the name Extertalbahn Aktiengesellschaft (EAG). The Extertalbahn was put into operation between 1927 and 1929. As early as 1930, the company was also using buses and coaches in addition to the railways. After EAG launched regional road haulage in addition to rail transport in 1960, the company kept getting new opportunities to expand. Finally, road haulage was expanded into a forwarding division in 1965.
Due to the further development into a transport company with several branches, the company was renamed on December 4th, 1967 in vbe Verkehrsbetriebe Extertal - Extertalbahn GmbH . In 1984 the subsidiary vbe Spedition GmbH was founded and in 1993 Karl Köhne Omnibusbetriebe GmbH . The railway network was expanded by purchasing the Barntrup - Lemgo ( Begatalbahn ) line in 2000. A short section of this route was put into operation in 2007 for local passenger transport (Lemgo - Lemgo-Lüttfeld).
