Under the brand name WerreBus is public transport in the Westphalia North Rhine- city wages in Eastern Westphalia marketed.

The line network consists of several city and regional bus lines , which are supplemented by dial-a-bus ("Taxibus"). The most important operators today are Karl Köhne Omnibusbetriebe GmbH / Verkehrsbetriebe Extertal GmbH with their brand "Weser-Werre-Bus" in the wages sector. In the Bad Oeynhausen area, Transdev Ostwestfalen GmbH is on the move with its Teutoburger Wald Verkehr brand.

history

The introduction of a modern city bus system was discussed in Löhne at the end of the 1990s; however, a decision on this could not be made in the city council due to the expected high need for subsidies.

Until 2003 there were four connections between Löhne ( Herford district ) and the neighboring town of Bad Oeynhausen in the Minden-Lübbecke district :

  • 405 : Herford - Schweicheln - Löhne Ort - Löhne train station - Melbergen - Bad Oeynhausen (every hour, parallel to the Hamm-Minden railway line ).
  • 406 : Bad Oeynhausen - Gohfeld - Bischofshagen - Löhne train station - Besebruch - Halstern (every hour to Gohfeld)
  • 429 : Erich-Maria-Remarque-Platz - Ostscheid - Brückenstraße - Gohfeld - ZOB - Kappenberg (hourly)
  • 619 : Mennighüffen - Werster Straße - Werre-Park shopping center - ZOB (BVO, individual journeys)

The Gohfeld district borders directly on Bad Oeynhausen with continuous dense development. The long-standing, at that time heavily used regional bus route 405 ran parallel to the railroad, so the local transport plan for the Herford district required a line split (also allocation to two line bundles ). This division could be carried out without any problems, because many passengers were lost to the railroad due to the network tariff introduced in 2000. The attractiveness of the line as a regional connection was completely lost due to this division (in connection with the introduction of the Werre bus ) and a considerably longer route of the replacement lines 425 and 430. According to the timetable, passengers from Schweicheln and Gohfeld to the neighboring cities of Bad Oeynhausen and Herford are forced to change trains , although the buses continue to run continuously in some cases .

Line 429 was only served for a few years and was not yet properly implemented when it was discontinued in 2003 (hence low passenger demand).

The Werre bus was introduced in 2003 as a joint project for Löhne and Bad Oeynhausen. The main operator of the bus network at that time was the Minden-Ravensberg transport company (VMR). This company was in a phase of deficit reduction, the aim of the measures was therefore to optimize the network and convert less popular sections to call service ("taxi buses"). In Bad Oeynhausen almost all city lines have been replaced by minibuses that operate on calls. There were protests over the calls that were now required. After several network changes and a change of operator, large areas can now be used again without prior notification. In Löhne, the changeover to call operation took place in several steps, today some lines are still served by minibuses, but again without prior telephone notification.

In addition to VMR (based in Herford and Minden ), operators were initially BVO and Omnibus-Verkehrs-Gesellschaft Bollmeyer ( Bünde ). The route network in Bad Oeynhausen was divided into a northern part served by the BVO (including Werste , Wulferdingsen , Volmerdingsen ) and a southern main area (including Rehme , Südstadt, Lohe ) operated by the VMR. The license for line 551 to Oberbecksen was always held by private companies.

On November 21, 2007, a tender was published by Minden-Herford Verkehrsgesellschaft mbH (mhv). Various companies submitted commercial offers for the two areas of Löhne and Bad Oeynhausen. The Detmold district government awarded the lines in Löhne to the non-local company BahnBus Hochstift (BBH) and in Bad Oeynhausen to the bidding group WeserWerreBus GmbH (shareholders: Karl Köhne Omnibusbetriebe / Verkehrsbetriebe Extertal GmbH and Omnibus-Verkehrs-Gesellschaft Bollmeyer ). The concessions were initially only awarded for three months due to objection proceedings. This meant that joint operation by one company (previously VMR) was separated for the two cities. The Bad Oeynhausen area has since been operated by Karl Köhne GmbH (100% of the shares in the bidding consortium have been with this company since January 2010) to distinguish it from the WerreBus, which is now limited to wages, as a Weser-Werre bus .

Since August 2019 the "Weser-Werre-Bus" in Bad Oeynhausen has been called "Der Oeynhauser". In connection with the name change, all city bus lines in the south of Bad Oeynhauser were brought to every half hour, and there is public WiFi on all city bus lines. In addition, from August 1, 2020, three new city bus lines in the north of Bad Oeynhauser were integrated into the city bus network; these also run every half hour. The BO1 line to Werre-Park was brought to a 15-minute cycle during the week. All Bad Oeynhauser city bus lines have had new line numbers since August 1, 2020 (BO1-BO7).

The former line names (hundreds digit) go back to the previous operators (VMR, BVO, OVG Steinwald or later OVG Bollmeyer).
All buses meet at the ZOB every half hour to change trains.
