Courtemaux is a French municipality with 257 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the Loiret in the region Center-Val de Loire . Administratively it belongs to the arrondissement of Montargis and to the municipality association Cléry, Betz et l'Ouanne . The residents call themselves Courtemaliens .
geography
Courtemaux is located in the east of the Gâtinais countryside between the cities of Montargis and Sens , about 110 kilometers south of Paris . The neighboring communities are:
- Mérinville in the north,
- Ervauville in the northeast,
- Chantecoq in the east,
- Chuelles (point of contact) and La Selle-en-Hermoy in the south,
- Thorailles in the southwest,
- Louzouer to the west as well
- La Selle-sur-le-Bied in the north-west.
The river Cléry crosses the community area of 12.19 km² in an east-west direction. The Cléry river valley has alluvial forests; the largest part of the community area consists of arable land. Courtemaux includes the districts of Le Point du Jour, Les Hauts de Chantecoq, Les Gobets and Les Chopilles, as well as some farms and hamlets. One of these small hamlets in the west of the municipality was called La Mort aux Juifs until 2014 .
